Environmental advocates renew calls for the state to remove shark nets during whale migration season after a humpback is freed from a tangle off the Sunshine Coast.
One of the most unique places divers can visit is the Pacific’s Bikini Atoll. Nearly 100 WWII ships rest on the bottom there, sunk by U.S. nuclear testing.
The 46-year-old man was swimming in the ocean at Del Mar City Beach alongside roughly a dozen other people on Sunday morning before he was struck by the predator.
Whale sharks arriving in Quintana Roo are in danger due to ships passing very close to them in the area of Isla Contoy, which may result in the decline of this endangered species on the brink of extinction. Rafael de la Parra Venegas, a whale shark researcher, said that since the season for this animal
In this video you'll find a lot of RAW shipwreck penetration video that I shot inside the USS Saratoga in Bikini Atoll. I decided to not edit down a lot of the footage or add any other audio to give the viewer the experience of what it feels like diving inside this historic Aircraft Carrier. You can hear how quiet it is and eerie lack of sound except for my breathing and sounds from my equipment. As we move from room to room you'll see how incredibly silty it is inside. That is why it feels like we are moving so slowly. This dive requires cave or overhead certification because you are hundreds of feet inside and down a level and when you exit it will be on the line in near zero visibility. Even moving slowly and diving a rebreather while carefully inside won't prevent silt from getting stirred up. This is an 888 foot-long Aircraft Carrier with many rooms, doors, hallways and things to see inside. The "Sick Bay" area is a great part of the shipwreck where you can see a scale, O2 bottle, operating table and the Dentist Office. I had to move my camera vertically through doorways and maintain my own buoyancy while getting into these areas.
At the end of the video you'll see the final shot I was trying to achieve. In the past I have only seen shots of one Dentist chair in the murky water. It took us 3 dives inside the wreck, each being 2 hours total because if penetration getting in and out of this location, depth and decompression obligation. We had to coordinate very clearly and perfectly on our 3rd dive to act quickly yet efficiently to "get the shot" I dreamed of getting here. To illuminate the entire room, 3 of the dentist chairs and the sink and mirror with cabinets. It really was a difficult shot to achieve and i'm grateful to my model JC Erba for his patience and to my Safety Diver Rick for keeping an eye on everything. It really is a team effort and i'm extremely proud of what we achieved.
If you'd like to license any footage from this video it was originally shot in 8k. No footage is to be used in any other video or production with out being licensed. Becky@LiquidProductions.com
Our Monthly Webinar is WEDNESDAY! Join the tribe. You don't have to be a freediver or SCUBA diver to join. Meet like minded people who want to know more about our world.
We're have a free webinar on everything about diving & diving related topics on the first Wednesday of the month 5 pm.
This is just one way we are building community to advance the pursuits of divers through meaningful engagement, impactful mentorship, and transformational programming. We aim to create a dive community that motivates, inspires, uplifts, and connects freedivers, and SCUBA divers (and non divers) now and for life.
At the end of each webinar, we allow extra time to discuss and answer your questions about freediving, scuba diving and more.

They may look mean and menacing, but it turns out the juvenile Great White sharks along the Southern California coast are quite picky when it comes to their prime habitat temperature.

It’s too soon to tell if the heat-stressed corals of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef will survive their fifth mass bleaching in eight years, but the marine scientists who monitor the reef’s health are already despairing. Species of coral typically resistant to bleaching are also struggling after the latest marine heatwave brought sea surface temperatures to a peak of 2.5°C above average. Over the Australian summer, which ended in February, extreme levels of bleaching for the first time hit all th
Seas turned red with the animals' blood as they were slashed and stabbed after being held in an inescapable part of the harbour at Hvannasund, a village on the west coast of the island of Viðoy.
