Our New Game Design and Development Course This week we launched Core Academy, a destination for free online classes for game creation and design. Core Academy teaches you everything you need to know to make great games, without the tedious stuff. You'll publish your first game, a playable multiplayer 3D shooter, in less than an hour. Courses include detailed tutorials, videos, and hands-on examples, as well as weekly livestreams where instructors answer questions directly. Four lessons are available now – Introduction, The Prototype, World Building and Player Mechanics – and more are to come by the end of May. Catch live mentoring on Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:00 AM PDT.

Bebras Mini Challenges Bebras Mini Challenges are shorter versions of the Bebras Challenge with a focus on a particular Computational Thinking skill. Bebras Mini Challenges, like Bebras 365, are available as a free, easy-access resource throughout the year. Bebras Mini Challenges and do not require a student or teacher login to access and students will receive a grade upon completion of the questions. These challenges are shorter than Bebras 365 with a focus on one particular Computational Thinking skill. Bebras Mini Challenges have been divided into three categories: primary school students, middle school students and senior secondary students.The primary category is recommended for students in years 3-5, middle school for students in years 6-8, and senior secondary for students in year 9 and above. These age groupings are a suggestion only, and we encourage students to challenge themselves by attempting different question sets.

All lesson plans are linked to the Australian Curriculum and don’t require any specialist equipment, so they are easy to implement in the classroom (or at home). Our resources focusing on the Paralympics in Australia are aimed at primary school students but can be adapted to a range of learning contexts. The I’mPOSSIBLE resources include lesson plans, worksheets and PowerPoint presentations for both primary and secondary teachers. These lesson plans can be used individually or to form a unit of work.

Initiated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and TED-Ed, Earth School takes students on a 30-day “Adventure” through the natural world.
